Exeter Reflexology

Reflexology

I offer reflexology in Exeter as one of my holistic treatments. I am a full member of the Association of Reflexologists which means I adhere to the strictest standards for professional excellence in reflexology.

About reflexology

The ancient civilisations of Egypt, China, India and the North American Indians all had some form of foot therapy that was used for health benefits, with evidence dating back as far as 3000 years BC.

Reflexology is a deeply relaxing, safe, gentle and holistic therapy that encourages the body to balance and heal itself. It works by applying pressure to the feet, hands or face on specific reflex points.

Working on the principle that reflex points on the feet, hands and face represent every organ, gland and structure of the body, stimulating these reflexes can release blockages and restore the free flow of energy to the whole body, achieving ‘homeostasis’ – the body’s natural equilibrium.

A full treatment takes approximately 1 hour plus a full consultation prior to the session. During a reflexology session I will feel for sensitivity or ‘congestion’ on the feet. This can indicate potential weaknesses and causes of problems in the body. By massaging through these areas, it is possible to help the body heal and balance itself.

During the treatment, I will:

  • detect energy blockages by massaging the reflex points
  • promote relaxation
  • improve circulation
  • stimulate the body’s natural healing process
  • help your body to detox
  • work any underlying problems, both physical and emotional

Anyone can receive reflexology. You can use it to maintain your health and wellbeing as it aids relaxation and can mitigate the effects of stress. Others use it to help with a particular condition or illness. Clients seek relief from pain (e.g. migraine, headaches, sciatica, neck & shoulder pain etc), from stress and also seek help with any hormonal imbalances (e.g. premenstrual syndrome, fertility issues, menopause etc).
