Is reflexology for me?
Yes, reflexology is suitable for everyone, from babies to the elderly. It can be highly beneficial in pregnancy, extremely helpful in assisting the terminally ill and ideal for stress. It can help with a wide variety of conditions but you do not have to be unwell to benefit from reflexology. Some people have reflexology for general wellbeing purposes and because they love the relaxed state it puts them in.
Is reflexology just a foot massage?
Reflexology is not a foot massage. Reflexology uses techniques to stimulate the complex neural pathways linking body systems and supporting the body’s efforts to function optimally. The effectiveness of reflexology is recognised worldwide by various national health institutions and the public as an effective complementary practice within the holistic health field.
Who cannot receive reflexology?
If you have an acute infection e.g. a cold or the flu, it is best not to attend a reflexology session. However, once you are over the worst of the infection, you may find reflexology helpful. Also, if you have a contagious disease or have experienced a fever, diarrhoea or vomiting within the last 48 hours, it is best to avoid reflexology. There are also some cases where it is recommended you seek approval from your GP before commencing reflexology:
- if you have recently had surgery
- if you have circulatory problems
- if you have any acute undiagnosed pain
- if you have cellulitis
- if you have been on a long haul flight within the last 48 hours
- if you are in the first trimester of pregnancy
Can I have reflexology if I have a verruca or wart?
If you have an isolated verruca or wart, I can place a plaster over it and work as normal.
How will I feel after a session?
You will likely feel very relaxed, energised and invigorated after your reflexology treatment. Reflexology helps the body to remove waste products and toxins. When this happens you may experience reactions such as increased bowel movements or increased urination, and you may also feel tired or emotional. This is a sign that your treatment is working well and is known as a ‘healing response’.
How many sessions will I need before I feel results?
You may see results after just one or two sessions. For maximum results, it is suggested that you have one session per week for four to five consecutive weeks. Upon improvement, sessions can be more spaced out, for example every month.
Do you have parking?
I have free parking on the driveway directly outside my premises. I like to advise people that Parsonage Lane is extremely narrow so you may prefer to park at another location in Silverton. There is a free village car park, parking within the village centre and there may be spaces along Fore Street – all within a short walk from me.
Do you have a waiting room?
Unfortunately I do not have a waiting room so I would ask that you arrive at your appointment time please, as I am unable to answer the door early if I am treating another client.
